July 12 – July 18, 2015, Ruswil – Switzerland
The Summer School that precedes the annual conference of Academia Engelberg joined students from different countries to discuss this year’s conference topic “Future Economic Systems”.
During the Summer School, participants have been prepared to actively and creatively participate in the annual conference by providing economic arguments. The Summer School started by introducing students to economic reasoning and it trained them to think in terms of economic incentives and equilibria.
The training provided allows participants to critically evaluate contributions regarding economic systems and to actively contribute to developing new ideas for a better functioning of present systems.
They shaped at the annual conference the Thursday morning, October 15, 2015. They added the perspective of the generation Y to the conference and elaborated on the topic of “Future Economic Systems” adding the different viewpoints of their countries.
Feedback from participants
The Summer School has been an amazing intellectual experience. We have had a plethora of incredibly intense discussions on critical topics in economics such as income inequality, trade liberalization, poverty reduction, the externalities of mobility, etc.
Prof. Dr. Stadelmann is an extremely knowledgeable teacher with very good communication skills and a singular competence to explain the intricacies of economics in a simple and systematic way.
Furthermore, the diversity of the selected students provided an open and interesting dialogue with very different perspectives.

I have had a number of incredible days in Ruswil, Switzerland – which I will always remember and carry with me. For me, the Academia Engelberg Summer School 2015 has been a very valuable experience.
I have developed my thinking a lot during these couple of days – as well as received a tremendous amount of new knowledges, insights and friends from various parts of the world with different Backgrounds.
I am very grateful to have been given the opportunity to participate and contribute to the discussion and the very important work which is going to be addressed during the conference in October.
