The influence of the digital revolution on urban development was shown by Professor Antoine Picon from Harvard University in Boston. Today, many cities are peppered with meters and surveil-lance cameras. The cell phone serves as GPS and guides traffic through the streets, free parking are-as are displayed, schedules are available online, tickets are booked on the Internet and so on. Infor-mation that in earlier days was only available to a determined number of people is now accessible for everybody. Modern infrastructure of a city includes the necessary software that reveals specific information at a specific point of time. These developments can, however, also be imitated on maps and assist in the design of new scenarios in urban development. The consequence from Cyber Cities: the urban economy must reposition itself and pay increased attention to the individual’s wishes and needs.
